Do I need To Be Home For A Painting Quote?

NO, You can call, Text or E-mail to answer some basic questions. However, Physically looking at a project or having blueprints is necessary to receive an accurate quote.

Can You Provide Me With Paint Color Samples Before We Get Started?

YES, We can supply you with a set of paint samples (a fan deck) that you can look at when we meet with you. You can also get samples at places like Lowes and Home Depot

How Often Should I Paint My House's Exterior?

The frequency at which you should paint your home’s exterior depends on several factors, such as the type of siding material, local climate, and quality of the previous paint job. Here are some general guidelines: – Wood siding typically requires repainting every 5 to 7 years is standard, whereas fiber cement siding can last 7 to 10 years before needing a new coat. – Harsh climates with extreme temperature fluctuations, intense sunlight, or frequent storms may necessitate more frequent repainting. – Higher quality paints and expert application techniques can extend the longevity of your paint job, reducing the need for frequent repainting. How Do You Determine The Amount You Will Charge For My Painting Project?

There are many things to consider. Including: type and size of the painted area; type of windows and other trim work; number and intensity of paint colors; amount of protection needed for plants and furniture; quality of paint used; and the extent of needed paint surface preparation. All of those things will need to be considered in order to provide you with an accurate cost estimate.

What Do We Do If You Find Dry Rot?

In the process of a paint job our painters will touch every square inch of a the house and it can happen that we find dry rotted wood. If this is repairable with epoxy, we may be able to do it in-house. If not and something larger is found, we will refer you to one of the carpenters we work with. In any case, if we find any dry rot, we will point it out to you and recommend the best way to proceed.

Can I Apply Latex Paint Over A Surface Finished With An Oil Based Product?

The General Answer Is Yes. The general answer is yes. However, it is vital that the surface be properly prepared. If the surface was coated prior to 1978, please consider the following lead hazard cautionary statement:Warning! Removal of old paint by sanding, scraping or other means may generate dust or fumes that contain lead. Exposure to lead dust or fumes may cause brain damage or other adverse health effects, especially in children or pregnant women. Controlling exposure to lead or other hazardous substances requires the use of proper protective equipment, such as a properly fitted respirator (NIOSH approved) and proper containment and cleanup. How Many Coats of Paint Will You Apply?

For exterior paint, more coats do not mean better results. Then again, using too little paint might lead to chipping or leave certain areas vulnerable to the elements. Upper Deck Painting will monitor the paint coverage of the project and advise the customer accordingly.
